How to Reach Kolkata

Kolkata is well-connected by air, rail, and road, making it easily accessible from anywhere in the world.

By Air: Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport (CCU) serves as the gateway to the city, offering direct international flights from major cities worldwide and extensive domestic connectivity within India.


By Rail: The city is served by two major railway stations, Howrah and Sealdah, which connect Kolkata to all corners of India through an extensive railway network. Travelers can book a cab from Sealdah to reach the Convention Centre. From Howrah Station, travelers can board the AC12 bus, which conveniently stops at Rabindra Tirtha. From there, it's just a short 7-minute walk to reach the Convention Centre.


By Road: Well-maintained highways and bus routes connect Kolkata to other cities in India, with long-distance buses available from neighbouring states.


Explore Kolkata with Ease
Kolkata boasts a variety of transportation options, making it convenient to navigate the city and its surroundings. The city is well-connected through its metro system, buses, auto-rickshaws, and yellow taxis, offering affordable and accessible travel. App-based cab services like Uber and Ola are widely available, providing comfortable and reliable options for getting around. Other apps include InDrive, SnapE Cabs, Yatri Sathi and Bharat Taxi.
For shorter distances, cycle rickshaws and e-rickshaws are common in many neighborhoods. If you are staying in New Town, Uber e-rickshaws are available and provide a cheap, eco-friendly mode of transportation between your hotel and the conference venue. The conference venue is strategically located and easily accessible by public transport. Attendees can also use private car services or hire a taxi for direct access to the venue.
For intercity or suburban exploration, the Howrah and Sealdah railway stations, along with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, provide efficient connections to nearby destinations. The weather and traffic conditions during late August may cause occasional delays, so plan your journeys accordingly.
Weather
Kolkata in late August experiences a warm and humid monsoon climate. Temperatures typically range between 27°C (81°F) and 34°C (93°F), with frequent afternoon or evening rain showers. The humidity can be quite high (85-90%), making the weather feel much warmer than it is but intense showers are common, so carrying an umbrella or raincoat is advisable. Sunshine hours vary, with cloudy skies interspersed with clear spells. Attendees should prepare by dressing in light, breathable fabrics, carrying an umbrella or raincoat for sudden rain, and staying hydrated. Comfortable, water-resistant footwear is also recommended for navigating wet streets. AQI of Kolkata ranges from 150-300. Participants who may be sensitive to air pollution or experience breathing issues are advised to carry their masks.
